VW Polo Sill & Floor Pan Repair – Rust Repair & Panel Welding, Frome

This VW Polo came in with textbook British rust — the inner sill eaten through from years of trapped moisture, exactly the kind of corrosion an MOT tester goes looking for underneath a car. Once the outer sill came off, the full extent of the problem was clear: rot had worked its way through the outer sill, inner sill and sections of the floor pan. We don't patch over rust at Steelhawk, we remove it properly. There's no point welding new metal to rotten metal, it'll only fail again within the year and you're back to square one. So every affected section was cut back to solid metal, and new sections were fabricated and welded in using fresh, high quality steel throughout. Compare the two photos: the first shows the corrosion once the outer sill was stripped back, the second shows the finished repair with clean, solid welds ready to go back on the road. If your car's been told it needs sill welding, don't put it off — sill rot only travels in one direction, and the earlier it's caught the less there is to cut out.
